Before my friend throws away this bucket of glaze, I thought I would ask
those 'in the know' what may have gone wrong. Lili posted this glaze recipe
not too long ago and I mixed it up. It is a wonderful glaze with shades of
yellow, aqua, and periwinkle blue in a beautiful matt. I spray it on and it
really likes a slow glaze firing and a controlled cool.
My friend mixed up a batch of it and glazed two sculptural teapots...they
both turned out a light gray and glossy. Is there anyway to tell what was
left out of the recipe, which I am assuming is what happened? Here is the
correct recipe:
Kaolin 12
Silica 24
G-200 32
Zinc Oxide 8
Whiting 24
add Rutile 7
Cobalt Carb .5
Tin Ox. 7.5
Can any of you glaze gurus tell what may have happened?
Dolita
