...just a quick thought to those who made such judgements:
When aiperi came here she had never heard of western art or history.
Never saw/heard/read:
Rembrandt, van Gogh, Zadkine, Michaelangelo or Andy Warhol. da Vinci, Shakespeare, Dostoyevski (!!), Mozart, Dr. Martin Luther King, Ghandi, Napoleon or even Genghis Khan, China Wall, on and on.

We not only showed her as much as she could, I took her on a backpacking/hostelling tour through Europe at the end of her stay. Her favorite places were the Louvre and the Uffizi gallery. We went back to the National Gallery several times and she spent her money on posters. She took them back in favor of other things. She loved reading Chaim Potok. Wrote an essay about her hero Dr.Martin Luther King. Her favorite artists were Rodin, van Gogh and da Vinci. She was at a 2nd grade comprehension/reading level in English when she came. Her TOEFL score was 580 last september, 30 above the required for University entry.

She will make a contribution when she is an adult, that will have great impact on many. Including sharing her new love for art. That can only happen through people like you, the compassion of true artists.

On topic CLAY CLAY CLAY (now it is), Marianne
Sorry for being defiant. If she's here in March, you will meet our girl.
