I nominate Gail Phillips as Claybud of the Month! What a miracle you
wrought with Wayne's computer, love. I'd send this privately but I
haven't your e-mail. If there's nobody around to tend to you at the
moment, go do something nice for yourself today, Gail. We'll all feel
better for it.

And what a smart techie you are!! I am constantly amazed at the talent
and education (much of it self-education) we have on this List. No
blathering from you, woman. You are the poster girl for Just Do It!

With great admiration.

Well, thank you, Joyce, for the generous nomination! However, Wayne is
exaggerating. He makes it sound like I literally 'cleaned' out saltwater and
sewage from his poor ol' computer. I didn't. He did that before he ever sent
it to me.

We went back and forth, trying a few things, because Wayne is no slouch at
computer repair, either. We entered this foray with him asking me to go and
get him a new motherboard and some compatible memory for it. I FedEx'ed that
to him on his dime, and he installed it. There were still some problems with
the computer after that, which he could have figured out if he had the
leisure time to do so. Unfortunately, he did not, so he FedEx'ed the whole
computer to me to have a look at.

What took so long was that his Windows XP copy would not let him go through
the validation process, due to Microsoft somehow thinking he had a pirated
copy. Validation has to take place, or you cannot run the Windows Update
tool and get updates that you may need. Wayne had a legal copy of XP, so
this may have been the work of some old fragment of removed virus or other
abnormality. Heck, someone else could have gotten their mitts on his Product
Key when the place he bought his computer from went out of business. I just
don't know. After Wayne and I went through the process of purchasing a new
licensed product key online, the online tool that you must run to validate
wouldn't work right (of course). I had to wait until Monday when that
particular Microsoft office was open again, so I could call them and ask for
their help. Microsoft and I are becoming close pals. I spent much of that
day on the phone with them, different Microsoft representatives all over the
globe, and we finally vanquished the gremlins that had inhabited Wayne's
poor computer. Once again, I FedEx'ed Wayne's computer back to him, on his
dime AGAIN, this time with a new modem and some additional memory.

No big deal. Wayne does everything for everybody, and I was honored to have
the opportunity to do something for HIM.

And as far as him saying I'm going to heaven, well, I sure hope not. All my
friends will be where there's fire, for sure!
