misc: sharpening tools; shula's wheel.

I sharpen tools with a small flat file as well as a small round file (type
used for chain saws). Files work very well. But of course I do not work
with porcelain which may need a finer finish on the trimming tools. And, by
the way, I always end the trimming with a pass from a bamboo or other wooden
tool.

As to Shula's floor. I think plates, or the metal lids off gallon jugs
would be slippery in and of themselves, and that small lids of the type
found on jam jars would mark the floor as much as the wheel legs would.

I would stick with a piece of 1/2" or 3/4" outdoor plywood, preferably
shnorred from a building site. Remember builders discard pieces of plywood
under 4'x 4'.
I then would put molding around, so that it does not splinter, plywood does,
and nastily, and then cover with some stick-on floor tiles which can be had
cheaply at special flooring stores or big places like Lowe's when they have
close-outs or broken cases.

And, Shula, when you get a wonderful studio the board will be useful as a
work surface.
