cracking (dunting?) during glaze firing & katrina helping

Well, I guess we all help where we can. Its frustrating for those of us =
safe and sound to sit back and just watch.
My efforts have been a little personal - I am avidly involved with dogs, =
specifically the boxer breed. I have been an enthusiast for some 12 =
years and for most of them have been active in the rescue of te breed =
and the education of the owners. Our national organization, the American =
Boxer Rescue Assn has 3 groups directly effected by the hurricane, as =
well as many owners and volunteers amongst those displaced.
Pets are not human beings, and humans do indeed need to come first, but =
its an important part of being human to care for other living things, =
and many people - especially those with not much in the way of material =
possessions or human support depend on their pets and are unwilling to =
abandon them. It really does make a difference to them that they know =
their pets are safe and it makes it easier for them to then take care of =
themselves.

So, I have put my web skills together for ABRA and created a website for =
them to collect donations, volunteers and resources, and its been not =
only personally rewarding, but has actually facillitated concrete and =
immediate help for folks and their pets in the area.
Maybe not as signifigant as some of the other relief efforts out there, =
but still serving a need I suppose ;)
Now, after the babbling, on to the cracking question, which I posted =
just before ClayArt entered the 4th dimension...

I'm hoping some of you might have some insight into a problem I'm having =
with my ware cracking during ^9/10 glaze firing.
The cracks seem like some sort of stress cracks, but I'm kinda new to =
this, and don't quite know what to make of them or how to remedy the =
problem.
I have provided some details and photos if you could take the time to =
have a look...

Looked at your cracked pot photos.
Most appear to be dunting (especially apparent in the white slab
plate/bowl), caused by rapid cooling.

Most of the cracks also occur along a radius where bottom meets wall or
where wall meets footring - this would suggest a thicker area against a
thinner area - rapid change in thickness + fast cooling = cracking.
