I spent the holiday weekend in Lake Junaluska, near
Asheville. I was able to go to Asheville on Saturday. There
are many galleries and so much wonderful work. In one
gallery, I saw some nice teabowls. I picked one up and
found out it was John Britt's. That was a shino one. Then I
saw the oilspot ones. Photos don't do them justice.

Blue Spiral Gallery has two
ceramicists featured currently: Virginia Scotchie and Nick
Joerling (in addition to many others who have a few works
on display).

Last night was the first meeting for a new year of the
Triangle Potters Guild. (We follow the academic calendar.)
The program was a show and tell of recent works by members.
I finally got to see one of Chris Campbell's recent colored
porcelain pieces in person (and to hold it). It was very
nice. The even better news is that she'll be the featured
speaker at a guild meeting soon.

Coming up later this week, I'll be attending a slideshow
preview tomorrow night of the kiln building workshop that
John Britt is doing here in Raleigh. And then Friday night
is the opening reception for Dan Finch's
show at the NCSU Craft
Center.
