Hello Claybuds!

I am Vicki Hamilton and I live in West Seattle. I do my work and teach
beginning and intermediate pottery classes at the Moshier Art Center in
Burien - not far from the Seattle Tacoma International Airport. I have
never formally introduced myself to the illustrious folks on this list, and
am taking the opportunity to do that now.

I've been producing functional pottery - stoneware and porcelain - since the
early 70's (including a 12-year hiatus from 1988 to 2000). As hiatuses
(sp?) go, it was a long one and I did a number of things to earn money
during that time - mostly working in Silicon Valley in California. You
know, the children are born (2 sons) and one's sense of time shifts. When I
read Kelly's gorgeous messages, I wonder if I might have done things
differently then.

Well, the children are grown now (Nat, 32 years old, sound designer and
stage manager in the Seattle theater community; Japendra, 28 years old,
Hindu monk residing on the Island of Kauai on a Hindu monastery). They are
both happy that I began again creating with clay.

My husband, Dennis, and I left California and moved up here in September of
1999 after discovering (with extremely short notice) that we wouldn't be
taking up residence in Tuscany after all! We told all our friends that we
were driving to Italy and that Seattle was our first stop. We have visited
friends there and renewed our love for that country 5 or 6 times since then.

Does any of this many sense? Geez, I hope so - it's kind of choppy I'm
sure.

I'll be at NCECA - rooming with Linda Ferzoco, a fellow Californian. I am
supremely anxious to meet all of you who will be there.

And now, a request - I am privileged to be making a trip from Seattle to
Santa Fe, New Mexico October 29-November 4, and am extremely interested in
places, galleries, events that I should not miss while I am there. Mostly,
I'm interested in potters in the area that might be open to a visit from a
potter from the Pacific Northwest.

Thank you all, and I look forward to hearing from anyone who would care to
respond.

Seattle, WA - still sunny, cooler at night finally. Had the first ripe
cherry tomatoes from my "garden" in our salad this evening! Yum!
