Hello,

I have a glaze recipe calling for Frit 2268 calcium borate. I found it =
on a UK website but haven't been able to locate any in the States. Can =
I substitute another frit for this one?

Thanks,
Karen

Hi Karen,

Googled the frit and found this at Digital Fire:
http://ceramic-materials.com/cermat/material/2441.html

Also mentioned a supplier "Potclays" (may be in
Canada)

Happy hunting!

Hi jim,

Had a quick look. Part of the problem of a direct sub appears to be finding a
frit that only contains CaO, Al2O3, SiO2 and B2O3 - based on the analysis on
Ceramics Today's list provided by Frank Gaydos -
. I had a bit of a snoop in
Insight and
could not find one that did not introduce a number of other components. There
may exist such a frit but perhaps the best way to have at this, would be to
take the recipe in its entirety and sub in another frit. Hopefully this will
give enough wriggle room to get it to work.

If you don't wish to post the recipe to the list, feel free to shoot it at me
directly and I'll take a look. If you let me know what other frits you have on
hand that will help also.

Thanx
D
