Check out Aboriginal designs, Maori from New Zealand, Tonga from S.
Pacific. Symbols of the ocean are important such a waves, turtles,
fish, boats.
Tatoos are also significant and may demonstrate some interesting
designs.

I will be teaching elementary students some clay projects revolving around
the cultures of Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific Islands. Does
anyone have any suggestions?

I'd like to see some ideas too as I have just had a call from our local
Potters Guild to teach kids 8 to 12 for 2 1/2 hours a week for 8 weeks.
I am not sure I am going to do it as I have my teaching practicums to do
this fall and wanted to focus solely on that. The classes however are on
Saturdays and the money would definitely come in handy as I am on a leave of
absence from my job as education assistant.
