the leach pottery restoration project

You may remember that the Leach Pottery in St. Ives was on the open market=
back in 2003 and there was every chance of it being lost as a ceramic=
studio/workshop/public space for future generations?

Well, it appears that a an "influential group" of private and public=
individuals/groups/organisations got their act together and are attempting=
to raise one million pounds stirling, so that the Leach Pottery can be=
bought and renovated. The aim is to make sure it continues to teach=
apprentices as well as show work by Leach (and probably some of the 100 or=
so who apparently benefited from Leachian tuition) as well as be open to=
the visiting public.

Those of you who feel that it would be a Good Thing to save this historic=
site may like to contribute something towards the fund. A formal public=
appeal is to be launched soon (according to a pamphlet I picked up=
recently). The Leach Pottery Restoration Project will put you on their=
mailing list, if you send A SELF ADDRESSED ENVELOPE with STAMP (you can=
buy an international equivalent at your post office no matter where in the=
world you live) to:
