Thanks for sharing, Jim. I love your centernnial
colors and the ways in which you combine them.

Hmmmmm, maybe I can Copy Them. If I"m
successful, I'll put them on my blog and send it
out to the list.

Kidding, of course. Well, maybe I am.

I note that you operate from Alberta. Is Medicine
Hat in Alberta? (or is it the next province over.....)
At any rate, when driving east on Highway 1 out
of Medicine Hat (wherever it is) there was (I hope,
still is) a great retail boutiquey ceramic spot. The
owner/artists were not around when we were there,
but the salesperson showed us around anyway,
even allowing us to go downstairs (basement? we
have few basements in the desert.. seemed odd)
to the work spaces and to visit the kiln. An
extremely neat studio with many lovely bisqued
pieces lining the walls.

I purchased a teapot with a dragon curving up so
that the neck and head formed the spout. Normally,
I care not for dragons.... but do occasionally enjoy
individual ones. This is probably an 8 cupper. I
use it often. Clever and unusual. I know that there
are lots of dragons around but this one has a
different perspective on dragonhood.

In the Mojave where it's warming up rapidly.... do my
necessity shopping early mornings so that Mojo
can ride into town and it's still cool enough to stay
in the car. Took her to give the car a bath today.....
what a Drama Doggie!.... jumpin' all over the place.....
back to front... pretend whimpering....
then managed to get the passenger window down
so that we got a seatful of suds. Jumped into the
dry backseat, smiling big time.

Joyce we thank you for your comments. With all the talk lately about the
women in pottery I must make it very clear the wheel work is done by the
woman potter who is foremost in my life. Cindy Clarke, my wife, taught me
all I know about wheel work and every round piece that comes from our
studio comes from her hands. Slabs, bisquing, glazing , and kiln firing are
where I labour, with love. WE are Out of the Fire Studio, and our work is
very much "ours". We have a very unique situation where neither of us can
really claim total ownership of any one piece but each is the result of
our collaboration. Dragons are wonderful critters for sure. They have
played a big part in our lives as well:

Yes Medicine Hat is in Alberta, that is where our clay comes from,( yay
Plainsman Pottery Supply!), and it is about as close to desert as we get
in this province. Too bad you can't ship some of that heat this way and we
could send you a little cooling rain.
