mini slab roller

Hi Folks,
The school where I teach was loaned a Northstar table
slab roller this year. It was a great slab roller and
the kids did a lot of projects using it.

We had to return the slab roller to its owner and
would like to buy one for the art room but money is
always an issue in a school.

Baileys has a mini slab roller advertised for $259.00.
Has anyone used this roller and thought it was a
good/not good piece of equipment?

Any other table slab rollers that were good for the
money spent?
Thanks,
Jeanne W.

I have one of these and have really liked it. I work small, and can see how
it would be somewhat limiting if you wanted to work larger, but until I
started focusing more exclusively on jewelry I used it almost daily for my
handbuilding projects.

Good luck finding the right slab roller for your specific needs,

Andi

Hate to tell you that I cannot remember which kind of mini-slab roller
is sitting in my classroom. It has the cables - I will check today when
I go in. The kids - 7th and 8th graders LOVE it and what they can do
with it. However, once they were allowed to use it on their own, it
began to get off track / out of sync on a regular basis.

Hi Jeanne,

I have a Brent mini src & I LOVE it!!! My work is mostly done on the wheel but I do make a few small to medium things with slabs. When I purchased my slab roller space was (& still is ) an issue. for whetever it's worth I say YES! the Brent mini slab roller is worth every cent . (especially when you have to move it!!)

Hi,
Thanks everyone who replied to my post :-)
Consensus seems to be the Brent Mini is a nice piece
of equipment. I also appreciated the comment that the
kids can get it "off track" though, guess its a good
idea to make sure a responsible student is in charge
of slabs for the class.
The table slab roller was a valuable addition to my
small art room. The wheel excites students more, but
the slab pots were more successful.
