permeable bisque and migrating salts

Ok, I'm an idiot. I've been the victim of bad information,
(can you hear the whining "It's not my fault!!!")
but in this case, the bad information is my own.

I've been thinking of bisque as "rock" ("glass" if you prefer) and
therefore not permeable, when indeed it IS permeable, in some cases
VERY permeable until vitrified. (oh DUH!)
Salts can migrate through permeable bisque, along with oxides and
whatever else chooses to make the journey.

So much for the images of microscopic conga lines and boas LOL
Thanks to all who responded.
