Dear John,
When I built a MFT in 1980 I didn't use those type of angle iron
supports. I know you are relying on the fiber blanket to protect the
iron. I haven't looked at new designs for the MFT lately, but I
wouldn't trust the blanket to keep that iron from getting hot enough
to warp/sag especially with that much weight of hard brick. I always
thought the MFT supported bricks by compression. Am I missing something?
