blue specks

I've been told that the blue specks showing up in my white pieces are from cobalt. Has anyone else had a studio or kiln contaminated with cobalt? What should I do?

Do the specks go through the body or do they sit in the glaze or on the
surface of the body? If it is the later it might be contamination in the
kiln-try firing in a different kiln.

How interesting! A thought:
About 12 years ago I was at a glass-blowing studio on
the Isle of Whythe (sp?), England. They were doing
their very last firing of cobalt-blue glass, because
it contaminated the kiln bricks, leaving residue on
other pieces. They were breaking it down the following
day, never to do - so they said- cobalt pieces again.
My daughter has a beautiful pitcher from that last
run. I wonder how this relates to what you are asking.
