an sfpn question for aol users

updated mon 23 may 05

I have received two emails from people on aol who say they cannot
access our web site. I thought it an odd coincidence that each were
aol users. Could other aol users try it and let me know if they can
get into the site?

http://www.strictlyfunctionalpotterynational.net
or
http://www.strictlyfunctionalpottery.net
or even the old one still works...
http://www.art-craftpa.com/sfpn1.html

but these two people can get none of them.

Any ideas??? Please respond to me off line at jlehman73@earthlink.net

The Strictly Functional Pottery National is about over for this year.
It has been very, very, good! People loved it, and we had more people
visit it this year, thanks to our great publicity group.

Our juror next year is Tom Coleman. Entry is due by January 10, 2006.

Jean,

Have them hit control key and then f5 on their keyboard. This will clear the cash and reload to see any changes. Aol may also have their viewing preferences at a preset--so they will need to make some calls. Have them use internet explorer or netscape or some other browser to see if they can see your site. Also, while in the browser: tools-->internet options-->advanced: click on restore defaults.

One other issue could be what is called propagation: its the way websites are updated through each individual's local isp's DNS servers. This typically happens when one signs up for a new site or lets it lapse and then renews it. It can take 24 to 72 hours for one's DNS server to propagate.

Yet another way is to go here: http://www.megaproxy.com/freesurf/
and enter in the website you want to see: This shows in real time outside of DNS server what is out on the web.

Hope this helps.

I was one of the people having this problem. I talked to AOL about it & they
didn't
have an answer (no surprise there). I finally solved the problem by
disabling my
firewall & got in. No problems since, even with the firewall back.

AOL is notorious for having problems with all kinds of sites and services.
Others here can probably explain why better than I. They also give terrible
service. They should find something else.
