PARENTS: YOUR CHILDREN SHOULD PROBABLY NOT READ THIS POST!

LOL, Oh, Marta, you would ask! Tell them it means that clay is the
love of your life! But you want an explanation.
Here goes (nothing):

We (on this list) are all attached to clay. We live and breathe it,
for some of us it is the central focus of our lives (and for others
among us, it's not). If you are _really_ enamored of clay, you can
be said to be "in the (clay) life". Well, "in the life" is a term
some prostitutes use to describe their involvement in the (ahem)
"world's oldest profession" or if you prefer the PC version...the
human sexual gratification industry. (I'm trying to be very nice
here, ok?) Hence, a synonym for prostitute..."slut".
A clay slut would therefore be someone completely involved with, or
captivated by, clay. Wallow in it? Yeah, you would, if you are
that captivated, or surrounded by it. It's that simple, I think .

Ok, now that you've swallowed THAT one whole , here's the "real
deal"....

In Key West, a gallery started a night involving different galleries
all in one area having openings on the same night, once a month. To
raise a few bucks, they printed a white lettering on black tee that
read simply "Art Slut" in block letters. Some of you might remember
me wearing one in Baltimore. It signified someone that was so
"into" art that they would go from gallery to gallery that night,
and immerse themselves in all types of art. I loved the concept, I
loved the shirt, I bought the shirt. (Actually, I bought a few. I
love to tweak people in fun. Raised eyebrows means that they're
thinking at least....and that's a good thing. Never mind _what_
they're thinking, that is not my problem.)
=20
Nan Kitchens came into town one day to "raise a little heck" with me
and play tourist, saw the shirt and "had to have one", so we got her
one. Walking along, we thought, well, what if we printed some up
that said "clay slut" (along the same lines) and sold them at NCECA?
And then Nan had the idea of selling them to raise money for the
Branfmans...and the Clay Slut tee shirt was born. The color choices
and font and "Wallow in It" were my contributions.

Now, if I could only get these last 40 printed and mailed out! When
I do, and finish totaling everything, I will let the list know what
the total was that we raised for Jared. As you might remember, 100%
of the profits are going to him, along with his very own shirt .

BTW, there are no more available. Sorry folks. The ones I have are
"spoken for".

Best Regards,
Wayne Seidl
