seagrove international conference

updated fri 13 may 05

Chris Campbell on wed 11 may 05

Sadly, this notice was just sent to me from the organizers :

Chris, today we made the decision to cancel the Conference. We kept
hoping to see an increase in registration but it is not happening. Try
as I might, I can not know what we did wrong and why this happened.
Maybe you could shed some light on it for me.

Thanks for you efforts, wish it had worked.

Chris Campbell - in North Carolina - this is a sad day for the people
who
put years of time and effort into organizing an event for the pottery
community.

Hey y'all,

This is sad indeed. I was hearing good things about this conference from
some pottery friends who meet each week online to chat.

I was already a bit depressed that I was not going to attend for personal
reasons. Seems like an awful lot of money to waste on all that advance
work. Who was in charge of PR and where were all the ads?

I have no idea about how these things work, but it seems to me that if
Seagrove potters really wanted to start up a first class annual conference
they might consider taking a hit the first year or so in order to build
some momentum. They have the chops to attract very very good potters from
around the globe, and it's a shame that it won't happen
