As I recall

LOTS AND LOTS of VASELINE.....was the trick we used in Art School.

Susan- You can cut the "Vaseline" 50/50 with mineral sprits or turpentine
to make an easy application which does not require lots and lots of
the stuff straight from the jar! All these various suggested applications
of different kind of releases which require one coat to dry to before doing
another and then testing is really a form of "busy work" which takes time
and exploration. One's working methods should be simple yet
effective and fool proof. I have made molds for centuries and have used
every kind of reformulated and self made release thinkable. When it
comes to basics then this is the way to go, just ordinary petroleum jelly!

Seems like a grizzly challenge but it could go either way!

This one made me LOL.

Years ago, in my written instructions for "do's and don't's for my
raku class I wrote:..."and no bear feet"
Students have never let me forget that one.
