new potter in florida

Hi All,

I'm a beginning potter in Florida, and recently bought a wheel and kiln. My
cars are out in the cold (merely a figure of speech in FL), and my garage
has become my 'studio', though that's a pretty fancy word for my primitive
setup. I'm pretty enthusiastic about this new hobby, and as dedicated as a
full time job allows.

While I think buying my wheel and kiln was a good decision from a learning
standpoint (I can do it more than a once-a-week class, and on my own
schedule etc), I do miss the social interaction in a class. So, I wanted to
send this email to the list for two reasons. First, I wanted to introduce
myself to others out there in my area. If there is a pottery equivalent of
'jam sessions', I would like to tag along. Secondly, if there are other
potters nearby (Coral Springs) who don't have access to a wheel and/or kiln,
I'd like to invite you over for a 'spin', or offer kiln space. I still ruin
most of my pots, so it takes a while get a kiln-full ;)

Cheers,

Jim Jim@Cavanaugh.net
