Deflocculating glazes,Darvan 7 and glazes for brushing

Hi Jorge,

You got it backwards - if the glaze is hardpanning you need to flocculate
it - if it's gelling you need to deflocc it.

Alkalies - say from Neph Sy will defloc a glaze and make it hard pan. - and
you need to flocculate - you got that part right.

>Dear Paulette ,I can say something about this.
>I dont know when first preparing a glaze if it will need to
>be flocc. or deffloculated. What I do know ,is that when it becomes gelly
>you have to Floculate ( I use Epsom Salts, thanks Ron) and when it
>hardpans you have to Deffloculate.
>Generally glazes containing some kind of materials that sooner or later
>disolve some alkalis into the glaze, tend to deffloculate it, so most of
>the times you end floculating them.
>Hope this makes sense to you.
