A recent article in our BC potters guild brought to our attention that =
the traditional pin frogs are made by
imbedding brass pins and casting molten lead around them . The author =
of the article (Vijaya Morrison) sent samples of water in which these =
pin frogs had been standing to The Environmental Quality Institute for =
analysis.=20
The base line for accept=ADable levels of lead in drinking water is 15 =
parts per billion.=20

The water sent in tested he leaded pin frog water samples tested out at =
4353ppb.

Subsequent samples were taken and resubmitted to the lab for =
confirmation of the initial results. The initial results were confirmed =
and the laboratory stated that they would do no fur=ADther testing of =
these source samples as their sensitive testing equipment was being a =
damaged by such high lead levels!=20

There are stainless steel pin frogs being manufactured -- see =
www.pinfrog.com

My guild sent in an order as a group and were able to get a bulk order =
discount which made them quite reasonable.
