A while back, my Brent A started acting funny -- "idling" with the pedal
in the off position, so that the wheelhead turned ever-so-slowly. I
mentioned it on clayart and got advice, (even a schematic of the pedal's
works) and fixed it by twaeking that little screw. Got it ju-u-st right.

Time passed. Now it works great -- most of the time -- but seems to vary
depending on what else is plugged into the studio outlets. When my
little oil radiator kicked on and off over the winter, attending to its
little thermostat, the drain on the power was just enough to make my
wheel go from behaving to turn-idling again. It is so close to the line
that using the lights, radio, drill mixer, etc. seem to make it surge
above and below the proper "off" setting.

Do I just keep opening up the pedal and adjusting the screw, or is there
a better way to fix this for good? I have toyed with the idea of a drop
of superglue but I hate to make that kind of commitment.

I have been skating through the archives printing posts about how to fix
my old shimpo, which runs like a charm but sounds like a Peterbilt
truck. I am sufficiently bombarded by child noise all day (right now
Molly's playing Santana and Connor's playing with some multiplication
toy) that i really, really like a quiet studio when I go out there at
night. So the shimpo doesn't see much action.

I talked to the Shimpo guy at NCECA and he said I should hurry up and do
something because I won't be able to get parts forever. Any insights?

And while I'm asking for help, here, would somebody please stop by and
do something about whatever died under my studio foundation? From the
smell, it is roughly the size of a buffalo. The cool evenings keep it
nicely refrigerated, and the warm afternons really bring out the full
aromatic bouquet. If it were only warmer, the worms could get to work
and finish the job. I stuffed wet rags and coils of clay around the
cracks where my plumbing comes into the studio but still... phew.

OK, I need to go get ready for Mom's Night Out at a local
restaurant/bar. it's hard to believe I consider this an adventure,
considering the exploits of my youth.. (hell, or my March!) If someone
had told me -- when I was partying in Amsterdam or burning the candle at
both ends in college -- that one day it would be a big deal to go drink
a $3 beer with a bunch of middle aged homeschool moms, I would have
said, "shoot me now." But it's not bad. We're a motley collection of
"church ladies" and old hippies/nonconformists, and after an hour or so
of talking about math manipulatives and assessments, they generally
lighten up and start having fun. We usually close the joint.

Yours
Kelly in Ohio... tulips still all green leaves and no promises. Shipped
my first wholesale order yesterday and got paypalled for it today
(cha-ching)! E-money rocks.
