Dear Clayarters, I have to tell you about an amazing glaze project that =
I
just finished in my studio. With the help of my apprentices we created =
about
300 little discs. We took my 24 best glazes and glazed 2 discs with each
color and from there on started overlapping the glazes with each other =
on
the remaining discs. We created about 300 different glaze combinations. =
Some
boring, but many, many, many very interesting shades. All of this we =
placed
on a board, with references to each glaze. I plan to put it up in my
showroom, for future use, but it is amazing how much inspiration I =
already
draw from these colors.=20

From a happy studio.

I totally agree! Test tiles, whatever the style and however boring
they may seem to be when you're producing, firing, and glazing them,
will yield bountifully in inspiration to their makers. Too, you may
find a totally unexpected gem from some wierd glaze combination that
you can use to catapult your works to a new high.
