i have been able to secure a big bank of rooms
at the red lion hotel, across the street from the
convention center. it is right on the train line.
ideal. a block from the convention center.
(barb brown found this hotel, and clued me in.)

they will give us a big room on the 6th floor for clayart.
we will have a hospitality room with two bedrooms
and a lounge...bar/ late night room. we can have drinks there...carry them
to the clayart room. no booze served in the clayart room.
but, we can serve from the private room. that entire floor will
be clayarters...in fact, the way it is going, the entire hotel
will be clayart and friends.

we have already booked 60 rooms.
we will do at least that many more. we have a max of 150+

red lion hotel/convention center
1 800 343 1822 gerrie young is the reservations director.
(remember west coast time.) you must give the code
CLAYART/MEL JACOBSON and, you must book with your
credit card. mine only secures the clayart room and a small
block that i have reserved for me.

as we fill rooms, the price of the clayart rooms half.
so, if you are going to portland, call now. they will
fill fast. of course we will be the first in, the most booked
and others will still wonder what they can do in december about
a room. same old story.
mel
does anyone ever wonder how well we communicate?
we have system in place that is amazing. it just takes a
little planning, then action.

Dear Mel;

Will this setup be available before the NCECA bash if Clayarters wish to
come and meet ahead of NCECA?

Cheers, Hank.............still in TN

OK, I'm going to be grouchy and mean, you have a computer, and you ARE
connected to the internet or you wouldn't be on clayart. SO....take your
browser, find a search engine and type in NCECA (yes, they do have a
webpage). Frankly Mel shouldn't have to do this for you.

Frankly, Mel should have included that information in the first place.
But thanks for the kick in the pants - After all, isn't that what
Clayart is all about?

About kicks in the pants, Lou?!?! Sheesh, I hope not. I like mug
exchanges (having received my lovely dish from you) and information LOTS
better.

frankly, i think mel should have booked our rooms for us too,
with full payment--- in the first place
and in the second place:
what about our plane ticket, mel?

Whooooeee! I've just booked a room for 2006 NCECA .... The room is a
double, so if another female claybud who doesn't mind a wine-swilling,
short, fat, swearing (but otherwise tolerable) woman for a
roomie, email me.

> Linda

I want to vouch for Linda Ferzoco; she is one of the smartest, funniest
people I have ever met--even when she is not swilling wine. I recommend
staying with Linda.

Whooooeee! I've just booked a room for 2006 NCECA and now I have to wait 11
months. Rats! I feel like a kid on Christmas eve. Have to calm down; body
can't take this much adrenalin any more.

The room is a double, so if another female claybud who doesn't mind a
wine-swilling, short, fat, swearing (but otherwise tolerable) woman for a
roomie, email me.

And, on the drive up from the SF area, I'll be stopping at some wineries to
stock up for that swilling. Doesn't get much better.

Charles,

Thanks so much. It's a mutual admiration society for sure.

I'd already had several offers of roommates before you guys started this, so
I'm all set for a roomie, but there will be an occasional tippling of a wine
glass so those of you so inclined (!) are welcome.

Let's get back to clay, please.

Linda,

I would love to be able to say right now that I can go next year....however,
if it comes down to three months or so before and you don't have a
roomie.....I would love to share a room. I'm in VA so traveling is more of an issue.
This year was great though, that is if you took the right bus going to Baltimore
Clayworks. With Vince advocating you as a roommate, based on his workshop
with you not as a former roomie, I don't think you will have problems finding
someone. But please keep me in mind. Thanks
Barbara
