There is a small company in the small town of Lompoc near us who has
come up with some of the greatest tools for working with foam... The
company, Hot Wire Foam, has many inexpensive tools that allow you to
slice, carve, angle, curve, whatever you need.

Easy molds for handbuilding, complicated molds to hold that
complicated piece while it drys, test master molds to see if your
design will work and what changes need to be made before you do them
in plaster. Carve texture into a block of polystyrene, use it on a
test plate and then make your master. Pick up excess foam from a
local furniture shop or get it from your neighbors on FreeCycle.
Quick, easy, lightweight, and disposable. Use it once or twice or as
long as it will last!

Some folks even have made custom cornices and molding for their home.
Masks, stage setting, you name it!

Am I excited? Yep. Do I get anything for singing their praises? Nope,
not a thing. Just wanted to share!

His dad invented the tools, he's designing new things constantly,
looking to expand into the art field more than he has. Give him your
ideas, see what he can come up with!

Tell them we sent you, we live a few miles away and would like to see
them do well!
