Drat. It's official. I won't be attending NCECA
this year. I'm in the midst of trying a new drug
for arthritis (new for me) which at the moment tends
to cause some confusion and dizziness. My doc has
gone back and forth on this but decided this morning
that if I want to continue with him as my doctor, I'll
stay home for the next two months... or at least avoid
airplanes and long any kind of trips. This is NOT
something that will be a problem in the future.... either
the med works or it doesn't and I'll be off it. I will
sure miss each of you.

Marilu Tejero as a dress code role model for NCECA:
Don't listen to her, folks. She's looks like a
bloomin' model for whatever she wears.... always looks
exquisite and perfectly attired for any event. She
definitely fits the proverbial "put her in a burlap
sack and she'll look terrific." Sorry, Marilu, not
questioning your veracity.... just saying you don't
know the Real World when it comes to dress codes.

Anyway, for you newbies, go and be comfortable. There'll
be every kind of attire. Be yourself whether it's
conservative dress or artsy-artsy (which I personally
love) or whatever. DO wear comfortable shoes. You'll
be doing a lot of walking (if you're able, that is).

Drat I'll miss the promised hickey! Shoot. This
Mojave Blonde is more Mojave Gray this year..... unless
the sand's blowing.... then I'm back to blonde briefly.
I'll miss you, Tony. As with so many of you, even the
brief Two-Minute conversations allowed at NCECA are
well worth the effort of attending.

And, Liz the Willowy, no Rusty Nail for me. NCECA
is the only arena apparently where I can handle
... what is it..... straight scotch. Even had a
second one... though hours later.... from Phil the
Man. AND Jean and I will always remember the khalua/
coffee mixup at the fanciest restaurant in the hotel.
Big chuckles still. Have one for me, Jean, my bud.

I so wanted to hear Mel's and Joe's presentation.
Loved the article in CM. May spend the week mixing
and trying some of the # so&so glazes. Anyway, I'll
get to see it May 14 in Pomona.... I'll not miss that
one.... that's a promise. Several desert potters may
come with me since none of us have seen the new
ceramic museum. I'll miss Mel's booming voice re-focusing
our attention on things we don't want to miss now&then.

I'll miss Lisa with the Perfect Hair, winning smile
and wonderful flexibility. AND Primal who looks
like a home-schooler herself.... and, and, of course
Wayne the Wonderfully Passionate about pottery and
potters and boas.

I could go on and on, but I'll wind up with Earl
rudely laughing AT me again. Earl's my desert bud,
you know. He and Phil. Just a mountain range
separates us.... unfortunately, a range with few
passes so the distance is greater than it seems.

AND the whole Potters Council Board. Whatta a
talented crew!

I love your new dog, Cat! Quite a change, huh? You
and I can commiserate around the 17th. Send your
phone number and I'll call you.

Joyce
In the Mojave Desert of California loving the little
mini's. Maybe I can get a couple pics off to Mel
in the next few days.... all up to the wind..... no
rain at the moment.... the cactus garden looks like
a cactus jungle ready to give birth at any moment....

Dear, dear Joyce,
I am so sorry that you will not be coming, I was so looking forward
to seeing you AND getting you another Rusty Nail, it is scotch and
drambuie, an addictive drink.
Won't be the same without you there, and I know that you must be
truly disappointed.
So when I am in the bar on Tuesday night, I will raise my glass and
wish you well. Hope the medication does work for you, and the side
effects disappear.
All the best,

Meticky Liz from Grafton, Ontario, Canada.

And we will miss you - drat!

The main thing is that the meds work - if they don't I have a diet for you
to try - sure has done wonders for me but arthritis was not the problem.

We will see you next year for sure out there - even if we have to go get you.

Joyce,
Sorry you will not be attending.
I found a great anti arthritis med called ResQ 1250.
It is just marine oils but they have an anti inflamation aspect that works
very well on my arthritis. A side benefit is they also lower cholesterol.:>)
I could not tolerate the heavy duty drugs and tried this and never looked
back. Usual disclaimers, etc.
