holes in bottom of large planters and cracking

Don't know whether I have a large enough series just yet to report with any
certainty but I have made 6 in the past 10-14 days coating the inside of the
holes with wax and have had no cracking. Having some background in
statistics, I am cognizant that this is not a very large number but it is
certainly suggestive since I was getting some cracking in 2/3 pots. I had
speculated that this might be due to the uneven drying around the
circumference of the hole and the adjoining area; the limited results
suggest that this may have been correct. Thanks to all who made suggestions.

As an aside, I had planned to go to NCCECA but my sister developed what I am
afraid is a terminal cancer involving the base of her brain. I spent time
with her last week and am fearful that the end is not far away. Just need to
stay close to home. Everyone have fun.

Check out Shands Hospital near the University of Florida in Gainsville,FL. .
My childhood friend, Jimmy, was diagnosed with a malignat tumor on his brain
stem that was growing fast, cutting off blood flow from his brain, had blurred
vision, constant severe headaches, loss of balance and speech- not good. Local
doctors said to get his affairs in order. He put his commercial kingfish boat
on blocks, covered his 1969 SS Camero, preparing for the end. Local doctors
said if they didn't operate very soon be dead, if they did operate he would
become a quadrilapedric. His mom got in touch with Shands who said they had a new
proceedure but not preformed on anybody yet- would he like to be the first
one? Put a stainless steel band around his head to attach a gamma knife onto,
cut near the tumor and planted a radioactive seed, and chemotherophy. They "cut"
him with the gamma knife three times a day, six days a week for three six
week periods, rest periods between. The process of the cure almost killed him.
This was six years ago, it's been a long slow recovery. Jimmy is 52 years old
now- looks 75 from the cure. Last year he renewed his drivers license. He
recently invited me to go out kingfishing with him as long as the seas aren't too
rough as he doesn't have good balance yet.
Give Shands a call to see if what your sister has can
be dealt with. I'll say a prayer, Mill
