Glaze test for Emmanuel Cooper Frosty White Speckled Glaze Base, cone =
5-6.

Glaze tested on white midrange stoneware fired in electric oxidation to =
1240c. (2264f)

Firing ramp:
100c p/h to 600c (212f - 1112f)
150c p/h to 1140c (302f - 2084f)=20
80c p/h to 1240c (176f - 2264f)
5 min. soak
cool down max. to 800c (1472f)
Hold 1 hour
Shut off kiln

Recipe:

60 Neph. Syenite
20 Frit 3134
18 Whiting
2 Bentonite


Base
White glaze under a glassy shell. Crazed over all.

ADD
2 Copper Carb.
Gloss green glaze, ran a lot and adhered to test plate under tile.
Crazed over all.

or
1 Cobalt Carb.
Gloss dark blue glaze. Ran, and moved to reveal bare spots on test =
tile. Did not drip off tile, but shows large drips
ca. 2 cm. from bottom of glaze border.

or
5 RIO
Gloss glaze with cream cast. Crazed over all.

10 Ochre
Gloss, yellowish shell over white ground. Big glassy, crazed drips =
under bottom border of glaze, but did not drip
off test tile. Crazed over all.

10 Tin Oxide
Gloss white glaze. No visible crazing.

10 Zircopax
Gloss white glaze. Glaze sinks into iron specs in clay body. Slightly =
brighter than Tin Oxide.

10 RIO
Gloss shell over light beige ground. Crazed over all.


Note: All raw materials are measured up or down to the nearest whole =
decimal. =20
Colorants or additives to a 100 gram test batch are measured in percent =
to the 100 gram test batch.
