What a great pleasure it will be to have Hank Murrow drive back from NCECA
with us. He will be working in the studio at the Appalachian Center for
Craft for two weeks, casting pearls of studio wisdom upon and sharing great
stories with me and my students. Those of you who are able to attend Hank's
workshop on April 1,2,&3 will indeed be fortunate, getting to see the
results of two weeks work, getting to watch him use his wondeful tools.
Have you seen Hank's pots? He is just one of those potters who makes clay
do what it does at its best. This summer I picked up some of his
translucent teabowls made from Southern Ice porcelain, with those fine
facets cut with Hank's special twisted wire tool. He'll be bringing plenty
of those with him. I got one from him last summer, and we have been having
a great time experimenting with it, but I am really looking forward to
seeing the master use his own tools.

As an added bonus, our annual Spring Celebration will be occurring on
Saturday, April 2, while the workshop is in full swing. The Celebration
features demos in all the studios, craft sales, silent auction, great food
booths, live music (including the Cluster Pluckers, famous and infamous
Tennessee Bluegrass band), and other activities.

For anyone interested in any kind of claywork, you couldn't ask for more
than a workshop with Hank Murrow, one of America's fine potters, but keep in
mind that this event starts on April Fools Day. No, no, no, I'm not sayin'
another word. You wanna see what's gonna happen? You gotta be there. The
only alternative is to hear about it afterwards and wish you had been there.
"Doh! Why didn't I go?"
