Gidday Lee,

I enjoyed the photos of your kiln being loaded.
I am hoping that I will see some photos of the kiln being unloaded?
Isn't it great to be able to have this strange kind of participation of a
kiln being fired on another continent.

As I carnt see the fire box, I am curious who's the design is? At a guess,
is it the modified Olsen at the Uni? Although the internal looks abit to big
to be.

Alex,
Bendigo,
Australia.

Not a modified Olsen. Euan had an Olsen, took it
down and rebuilt the new design, after seeing the design in Bendigo.
I think it was made by one of the instructors that studied in England,
with one of Leach's students (can remember who.) Euan modified it.
Both fire boxes face forward. Fireboxes are hardbrick, but ware
chamber is softbrick on the inside and hardbrick out the out, with a
softbrick and fiber blanket arch. The warechamber floor is double
lengthed hardbrick.

You can see Euan Craig's design here:

I took a picture of the kiln at about cone 1 Orton. You can see the
front facing fireboxes:

I packed tight this firing to help protect glazed work
near the door (the flame comes up the back wall.) To my surprise, the
tighter packing evened out the top to bottom temperature.

I thought you might have been talking about Hiroshi Seto's annagamm at
Bendigo ?
I was given the plans by him when I visited in him in Mashiko in 84.
