Mel: If you take time out to market and make kitty litter you are taking
time away from making great pots, if you are launching a new company to take
the itch outta ticks you are taking time away from making great pots, if you
are Prez of the PC you are taking time away from making great pots, if you
are teaching at Sheridan College you are taking time away from making great
pots. The longest finger is pointed at me.
This year I spent an enormous amount of time away from the studio. My
partner worked day in and day out. I have seen her pots take a HUGE leap
this year.
What do you want to do with your time is a question Sheila always confronts
me with. It was the seed of my post "Do you want to be a potter or a star"
that someone felt the the need to take on as a rant". It was not intended
that way.
The more time you spend in the studio making pots the better they should
become. The more your mind is on other things the work suffers or at least
that has been my dilemna.
Some can multi task. I can't!
Cheers,
Tony
