If you go to NCECA this year. Stop into he demonstrations and watch in
the front row if anyone is looking at the monitors rather than the real
people. Look carefully , honestly. Do people prefer the t.v. image to
the live one or is it just easier to see. I know about the historic
study about this but suspect they had an agenda. Don't know how this
one will work out, but if you are interested you should go look.

My take on T.V., is that its like ice cream, don't eat too much and get
the good stuff.

Louis:
I had the same thought in Indy. At John's lecture I had to sit in
the back, as I arrived late. For these poor tired eyes, the
monitors were definitely a boon. When in front, my eyes are glued
to the person speaking...unless they are demonstrating, and I can't
clearly see _what_ is being demonstrated, or writing on an
electronic "white board". In that case, back to the monitor. In
some cases, I look like a person watching a tennis match...back,
forth, back, forth. I guess I'm guilty as charged

Monitors for lectures are a great assist for vision impaired folk as
well. From my seat, John's head was all of about 1/4 inch in
diameter. On the screen, it was almost life sized.
In person, of course, he's larger than life :>)
