Help wanted:

I am looking for a great recipe for flashing slip for woodfiring.

Also, wanted to get some votes on the most translucent yet thow-able
porcelain available on the west coast.

Thanks, Chic

Hi Chic,

Greetings from over on the other side (of the mountains that is).

We use some here in the woodkiln:

Helmer kaolin 75

Nepheline Syenite 25

For use on bisque, I calcine half of the kaolin.

Some people add a little bentonite and/or soda ash.

Coleman porcelain is a very nice clay. Throws easily, and get's nice
translucency. Good colors in the wood.

Good firings,
