Elizabeth Lurie Workshop
FINE AND FUNCTIONAL: Thrown and Altered Porcelain
February 11 & 12

Elizabeth will demonstrate various methods of working with porcelain,
including throwing and altering of basic shapes and the combination of these with
slab or handbuilt forms. On the first day, (9:30 am to 5 pm) basic forms such as
teapot, gravy boat, oil server, cup and saucer, etc. and components will be
made Also a video will demonstrate glazing and show her studio. The second
day (10 am to 3 or-4 pm) will be spent assembling the works and demonstrating
patterning. Handouts and information on oxidation glazes and firing will be
shared. After lunch there will be a slide show and the final wrap up.

Elizabeth Lurie will demonstrate her throwing and handbuilding techniques as
well as methods of altering these forms. The first day, basic forms and
components will be made. The second day will be spent assembling the works and
demonstrating patterning. A video will demonstrate glazing and show her studio
