in my last load almost everything i made of colored clay warped or cracked. i really dont understand the reason why. i thought i did everything right.. not!!!! the first load i had problems with just the ends warping.. dont know why that was either. but with this load i had a brain storm. bis. them upside down and then in the glaze load turn them right side up.. these are flat tiles by the way.. the clay is b-mix cone 10. i used sand under them to keep them from cracking, well that didnt work either.. am i using to much sand or not enough.. or not spreading it out enough maybe i had a few thicker areas and thats the reason why..
i also have of a potter friend who said her bowl or platter she made cracked in peices. she said that i didnt happen in the kiln but after she had taken in upstairs into her house. she said that all of a sudden she heard a big crack and it lay on her table in pieces..
different clays different glazes etc. so what could the both of us be doing wrong.. please help us! all suggestions on what we could have done or didnt do!
thanks

Billie -

I would be happy to help but I am very confused
about what happened before you fired them.

I need to know how you mixed your colors and
if the whole tile was made of one color or many.

I will be glad to answer any questions on the list
since there may be others out there with the same
problems.

Chris Campbell - in North Carolina - been working with
colored clay for many, many years.
