local clays for use in glazing

This past summer I dug several different kinds of clay. Some from the shore on Lake Superior (light pink in color) and some from southeastern Ohio ( sort of a dirty yellow in color). I want to use them in glaze recipes and know I'll need to test them with some fluz material. Neph Sye has been recommended i.e. 50% NS and 50% local clay but I want to do this in my electric kiln to cone 6 and it seems to me that I may need a frit of some sort i.e. Ferro 3110 to get the melt at cone 6. Can anyone help me further with this experiment.
I have already processed it and screened out most impurities.
Thanks

Fred, you might want to try using the local clay just
as it is. My garden clay makes a dandy "Albany slip"
glaze at cone 6. This has become one of my favorite
glazes. I'm in Ann Arbor, Michigan and the
clay is "dirty yellow" like you describe for SE Ohio,
but I'd try this on both clays.

Best regards,
