Sherri:
I work with Brickyard Ceramics in Indianapolis and purchase Amaco 25 =
clay. I fire to cone 03 bisque and use underglazes and a clear top =
glaze and fire that to cone 06. The only time I have had crazing was =
when I decided to use a half hour soak at the end. BIG MISTAKE. I have =
also used their 20 clay
I hated only being able to fire oxidation but cannot afford gas or wood =
kilns at this time. So, necessity being the mother of invention, I =
began experimenting and opening my eyes to the work of others and found =
out that some really nice affects can be achieved with low fire =
purchased glazes. (I also went to purchased glazes to ensure food =
safety at low fire). Now, I will spray an even base coat, then spritz a =
slightly darker color over that and then spritz a darker color (but =
usually within the same color group) over that. I don't feel that my =
work has that "flat" look anymore. =20
Mind, this is just a response to my taste and the way I need my work to =
turn out.
