glaze fault (conclusion)

Hi Ron and everyone who followed my shivering adventure,

I have now fired my forth kiln since the shivering glaze fault
appeared. Kilns one, two, and three had some shivered pots. Kiln three
was just a complete disaster, while two, and three had only a few
shivered pots. This morning I opened the forth one- 50 cft of carbon
trapping shino- and there was not one single shivering pot.
This makes me think that the culprit was either a bag of bad material
or my error in weighing out the materials. Kilns one, and three were
not hit as bad as kiln three, since the bad batch was dilluted with
remnants of a good glaze.
I also tested a line blend of Ron's modified no spod glaze and my
regular glaze and there was no difference in appearance. However when
I actually glazed a few pieces with Ron's glaze there was an
excessive crawling so I may just stick with the original version.
I hope that this concludes the incident and I'll never see any
shivering pot anymore.
Jiri

Hi Jiri,

Send that recipe back to me - I can probably fix the crawling.

Thanks for posting this to ClayArt.
