the bottom of your pot.

We made a very simple suction device to hold vessels to dip them into glaze
without tongs and annoying tong marks. Because we have a de-airing pug mill
we had a ready source of vacuum. Any potter with a de-airing pugger could
very easily to this. For the suction cup, I just put a bead of bathtub
silicone around the end of a piece of ABS 1.25" drain pipe and it forms a
very effective seal - now way any piece is going to fall from that. It took
maybe an hour between getting the necessary parts from the hardware store to
getting it put together.
BTW - after putting the silicone bead around the end of the ABS, I left it
upright and carefully placed a small piece of waxed paper on it to give it a
smooth and flat surface.
Now ready to make a bigger one to grab the bottoms of platters.
