Kick off NCECA 2005, Baltimore with this ambitious two-day demonstration
workshop, where four of the functional realm's finest will share their =
many
techniques - on the wheel and off. Have a front row seat as these =
scions of
the ceramic world discuss their influences, paths and professional =
secrets.

Join Malcolm Davis, Steven Hill, Jeff Oestreich and Lynn Smiser Bowers =
as
they demonstrate and discuss (respectively) Shino glazing and firing
techniques, single-fired functional stoneware, surface design and soda
firing, and layering techniques using stencils, wax, oxides. Form, =
function
and firing will be covered as well as a healthy sprinkling of anecdotes.
Over the 2 days, each artist will present a "solo session" providing =
them
the opportunity to share slides of their work and discuss their personal
concerns and focus. After each "solo session" there will be a group
demonstration of throwing techniques, altering methods and surface
treatments, while engaging in conversation with each other and the =
audience.
This is rare opportunity to witness such cross-fertilization and lively
interplay between some of the masters of the craft.
