barnard's clay

Hello,

I was just talking with my local raw materials supplier the other night,
and he mentioned having difficulty getting his hands on Barnard's Clay
recently. I was wondering if anybody else out there has had a same
experience (either difficuly getting it, or heard about such difficulty)?

Is it possible that this is another material that is becoming scarce to
non-existant?

I also haven't been able to get Barnard clay. Has anyone come up with a
substitute to give a similar effect?

Hi Edy, Scott & All,

Re: Barnard clay

I've recently had some very good results using
Laguna's SG-758 Barnard Sub Blend.

Cone 6 ox with a very old recipe from the archives.
I've never used the real thing, so I can't tell you how it
compares.

Give it a test, you might like it.
Much on Barnard in the archives.

Be sure to use appropriate safety measures.
Lots of manganese.

Hi,
Yes I have beeen having trouble getting the barnard.
If anyone out there knows a means of getting it, or
has a resource, let me know, too!

I have been using a glaze recipe called Barnard Black
for so long and it has become such a wonderful staple
and compliment to my other glazes that it would really
be too bad if we can no longer get barnard.

Thanks edy

I use Barnard clay and have for years. I still have several bags. I
also use Ravenscrag Slip. It is similar. Try a substitution.
