meeting other texas potters

I'm not sure what 2 day event is happening in Gruene, but suspect it is
connected to some sort of Oktoberfest celebration. If it's pottery
related, I'm sure Dee Buck is involved. Harding Black used to be in San
Antonio, but passed away. I believe he mainly sold through Nieman
Marcus anyway, so there wouldn't be a studio you could tour or
anything. You might call Armadillo Clay Company in Austin. They might
have a better idea of some good Texas Potters for you to get in touch
with.
Also, while you're in the area:
Gruene has two really good restaurants: Oma's Haus (I'm almost positive
that's the name. It might be Oma's place or something similar) has very
good authentic German food. The Grist Mill is also a really good place
to eat and has beautiful scenery. If you like Tex-Mex food, head down
46 highway to a little town called Seguin (pronounced Seh-Geen) on 123
Bypass, there is a restaurant called El Ranchito My mouth is watering at
the thought of it! (If you go, ask if John is there and tell him that
Buddy Wuest's niece, Cindy from Kansas says hi and still wants the
cheese enchilada recipe and I'll get him as many sweatshirts as he wants
if he gives it to me)
Have a great time while you're down there! That is one of the prettiest
geographic areas in the US!

Cindy Bracker in Kansas who longs for Bluebonnets and REAL salsa, not
chopped up tomato and cilantro based crap.
