Sorry to be a beast, Janet, but Trusty Old Larousse says a jardini=E8re =
is a decorative piece of furniture in which one sets a flower box. =
Around here people use old iron bedsteads sort of tilted on a side, =
placed in the front yard, fill them with earth and create " flower beds" =
(I don't make the news, lady, just report them.) Petit-Robert adds =
that a jardini=E8re also is a large flower or tree container of wood, =
stone, cement,brick. (And of course, Meaning 2, jardini=E8re is a mix =
of vegetables--often pickled.) Cache pot is really truly it for a =
decorative pot into which a flower pot is set.

Earl opened the topic I have been waiting for someone else to broach. =
The original warped slab question referred to slabs placed into deep =
molds. Now I have been working a bit on this will do more with slip =
decorated slabs. But I have had problems with cracking at edges, and =
that is what is holding me up. BUT WHEN SLABS ARE PUSHED into molds be =
they deep or shallow, would there not inevitably even if only from the =
weight of the clay itself, be stresses and strains that might lead to =
warpage? Then: does anybody have any opinion/suggestion/advice re: =
what is better: to fold the clay to make it fit and then scrape the =
excess away, OR to cut the excess off and "glue" the edges together? =
I am going to try to use nylon in the clay to see if that relieves the =
cracks. Yes, I DO coat the edges with latex asap.

Lilli,

on this side of the border jardiniere may mean a suspended pot from
the ceiling containing flowers in soil.

Of course, in France they speak a funny French (Hehehehe)
That is what I keep telling Smart.
