As Type-K thermocouples age, their temperature reading drifts slightly. You
can compensate for that drift by adjusting the controller's thermocouple
offset. But I think an easier method is to fire to a different cone, as you
are doing, and adjust the firing by adding a hold.

If you are using Ramp-Hold mode, it is even easier to adjust for
thermocouple drift. Just change the temperature of the segment by the exact
amount needed to bend the witness cone.
