porcelain glaze problems

Hi,

I am trying to learn how to decorate cone 6 porcelain. The results to date
are terrible.

I purchased 18 X 25 mm porcelain blanks both bisque and glazed.

My glaze firings, and over glaze firings, are very
dull in appearance. I use cones to assure the temperature in my kiln,
therefore, I believe that is not the problem.

Any suggestions you can make would be sincerely appreciated.

Dear Beckie,
You give us very little information.
We need to know more about materials, methods and motifs in order to
make any comments.

Hi
=20
The bottom line of my efforts is the results are either dull or "satin"
finish not the high gloss I am trying to achieve. I purchased and use =
both
cone 5 bisque porcelain and the same piece with a clear glaze fired to =
cone
06.

I have used Bell china paints, fired to cone 17, third fire over glaze
"water colors" made by Amaco, fired to cone 18, and have tried glazing =
the
porcelain bisque with Duncan "Envision" clear glaze, fired to cone 06, =
and
not obtained a satisfactory result in any of these.=20

A couple of things I have looked into are checking for cold spots in my =
kiln
and using cones to verify the indicated temperatures in my kiln, and =
have
found no problems. My kiln has an Orton controller.

In addition, I have used Amaco luster's over clear glazed porcelain, and
have not achieved a glossy finish with that either.

Any assistance you could provide will be appreciated.
