Gary, I like the pots with the Buddhist imagery. I am working on
urns for next firing. How do you transfer the Buddha images?

Lee,
This technique is quite common to painters. The image, a line drawing,
is traced on paper. The lines are perferated and chalk dabbed through
the sheet and deposited on the canvas or wall. The base drawing for the
Cistene Chaple was layed out in this manner. One basicly fills in the
dot-to-dot with color. With the clay I use a needle tool to poke holes
along the lines, starting in the center. When the dotted lines are
compleated I use a half a chop stick carved on the ends into small
blades to connect the dots insizing the drawing. After the first pass
the burr is allowed to set up and cleaned. Another pass over the lines
is made if necessary. I always clean up the burrs when insizing.
Colorents or inlayed can be added to the lines. I'm still working on
that and might try inlay when I get to making this winter.
I noticed on my way to the meetin Ricky brought down the back hoe with
the front end loader. I've already started shoveling the topsoil and
roots off the space where the stack and second chamber will be built.
That I can handle. If he could bring over a bunch of gravel from the pit
it would be a big help in preping the foundation and surrounding walking
area before the ground freezes. We also need to cut back some trees and
use them to make the shed. I think he also plans to help Doc Hayes with
some digging out to his deer camp.
Well later, stay in there!
