itc 100 on shelves

The Mayor said that he doesn't use ITC 100 on his
advancers. Until now I've used whatever shelves came
with my kilns and did coat all with ITC 100 which made
a major positive difference in the amount of elbow grease
needed to remove glaze drips.

Question: I'm due to order new silicon carbide shelves. Do
they need to be coated with ITC 100 , also? No problem if
they do; the process is a simple, fast one. I plan to continue
my glaze/claybody trials .... see no sign of becoming a more
efficient, moderate, cool potter...... SlapDash seems to be my
aim when it comes to potting.... and for now continues to
make me happy. If I could produce the quality that so many
of you do, I'd probably change my Nasty Ways ... then, of
course, if I changed my N. Ways I'd be more likely to have
higher quality ... and consistent quality..... whatta conundrum.
Not. I've been way too Controlled and Goal Ridden up to
these years of Old Age, anyway.

I am excited about what has been said about the use of ITC 100 on shelves
and want to do it. My questions are (1) did you use the Ceramic Coating
kind (2) did you thin it so you could paint it and (3) how many coats?

Thanks in advance!

I'm sure Joyce will answer as well, but, Bullhead City is about 90-100 miles
south of Las Vegas on the Colorado River. Joyce, if I'm not mistaken is
North of Barstow, CA, west of Vegas. The Mojave is a big place.

Hey Les...... we're aways from Bullhead City but it's within
a half day's drive. The Mojave is a big desert, spreads all
over the place..... then is bordered by the Sonora which
makes it seem even bigger. People from here go over to
Laughlin which I think is close to Bullhead. I'll have to look
it up to be sure but I seem to recall that Bullhead is in
both Arizona and Nevada with a river dividing them. =20

Around here (as in B.C.) distances on the map are very
deceiving since we have mountain ranges that prevent
going as the crow flies ..... and the passes are far
between.

I remember 90F on Vancouver Island when I was taking
Robin's glaze course. What a perfect spot!

Take care
Joyce
