Right Folks,
Wish to know who is the tops in World Ceramic today. I suggest you look =
at the members list of the ICA.
Now I ask, who represents Clayart or Potters Council in this =
organisation?
Go to http://www.aic-iac.org/uk/membres/51.html to find out more.
Best regards,
Ivor Lewis.
Redhill,
S. Australia.

Hi Ivor,
I'm not a member of IAC but I've been going to their meetings (held
every 2 years) since 1988 when It was in Sydney, Australia. I am going
to IAC Korea on Aug 23rd and will promise to wear my Clayart tee shirt
at least one day.

Dear Barbara Brown,
Looks like our paths have crossed before!
Should you run into Roland Blattler (He used to be part of the
Secretariat) pass on my good wishes. He invited me to join the IAC
when we met in 1988 a the Sydney NCC.
Have a good time in Korea
Best regards,
Ivor Lewis.

Dear Craig Edwards,
This is what the IAC has to say for itself
<< The International Academy of Ceramics is the main organisation
representing the interests of ceramists worldwide. Its membership
consists primarily of individual makers, supported by writers and
critics, museum and gallery curators and private collectors. >>
If you wish for more information including a list of members then go
to http://www.aic-iac.org/uk/index.html
Membership is Swiss Francs 100.I
Many of the members web sites seem to be out of date and this includes
some corporate membership.
I would estimate that Potter's Council and Clayart outnumber IAC
membership
Best regards,
Ivor Lewis.
Redhill,
S. Australia.

Hi Craig,
You asked what do they do at IAC meeting. I'll try to give you an idea
The reason I go is that the host country really wants to show the
ceramics of their country and you get to see and learn about their
ceramics more than you ever could on a pottery tour or going by
yourself.
The 2002 IAC was in Greece. 4 days in Athens, 4 days on ship visiting
the pottery islands and an optional 4 day tour of Greece afterwards. It
was organized by Kostas Tarkassis of Kerameiki Techni magazine and was
wonderful.
The 2004 in Korea is 4 days in Icheon (a pottery town) and 4 days in
Seoul then a 5 day optional tour of Korea.
Just to give you an idea here is schedule for day 1.
opening ceremony,
lecture (understanding Korean art and ceramics)
visit to Royal kiln museum
opening of exhibitions
welcoming dinner
2006 IAC will be Latvia and the Baltics
2008 IAC will be China
