Home from the Toronto Outdoor Exhibition. Pooped! As i predicted the awards
this year would be given to conceptual ceramic artists. One was my friend
and clayart lurker Joanne Norduis so all is well. last year we functional
folks claimed the cash. this year there were many conceptual ceramic artists
and so we functional potters benefitted from the crowds that still need
something to wash in the sink and not have to dust every two weeks. tried my
driveway gravel oribe line which went over very well. had to come home Sat
at noon to get more big bowls. sold everyone I took. A good show for us!
Met the new assistant editor for CM Jennifer Poellot at the show. She
dropped by our studio today. A very enthusiastic competent addition to the
CM gang. I sent her to a couple of wineries and a very, very nice
winery/restaurant Vineland Estates for lunch. Lunch will be expensive but I
told her to have Sherman Hall send the bill to Mel Jacobsen since he has
received such great reviews of his person and book of late. A glowing one by
Steve Branfman.
David this weekend I did the Hard Money but it will translate into the
eventual Easy Money- an excellent article in Ct by my buddy David.
Off to unpack, but luckily not much to unpack this year.
Cheers,
Tony
